I’ve been tickled pink, to use an old-time expression, with the giant poofballs growing in my backyard. The plant is actually yellow salsify, or tragopogon dubius, but I refer to them as poofballs. The past two years or so I’ve let nature reclaim my backyard, and have been thrilled with all the flowers, plants, grasses, and trees that have grown on their own. This particular plant has brough more than one smile to my face. You’ll notice in the final picture the size of the salsify when put in a vase alongside a regular dandelion and a very pretty rose. I’ve had them inside for many days by now and they haven’t lost any bits (whatever those bits might be called). I hope the pictures make you smile, too! ~SueBee

I smiled.
