When I took a mini get-away to Palm Springs at the end of 2014, one of the places I found fascinating was Moorten’s Botanical Garden. I wrote about their world’s first Cactarium, and will now share scenes from their desert gardens. The afternoon was extremely pleasant, the temperatures on the cooler side (Southern California’s cool), […]
On the drive up the mountain to Oak Glen, I noticed this adorable, fluffy baby cow and family on a ranch alongside the road, begging me to take their pictures! Sorry I’m not enough of a cow person to identify their breed, but they sure are cute, long horns and all!~SueBee
I drove to Oak Glen, near Yucaipa, off the 10 freeway, the weekend before this past one. Clear mountain air, warm temps, an all-around wonderful day. The three pictures in this gallery were taken while I was on the mountain, facing toward my route back home to Orange. Those bare apple trees in the field will be full with fruit […]
Just a touch of the Arts District from when I drove through recently on my way further into downtown Los Angeles. It’s a fascinating part of the city. I need to return when I have more time to wander around. ~SueBee
These photos were taken on a recent visit to a favorite, very beautiful place, the Los Angeles County Arboretum in Arcadia. Naturally, our Southern California weather was in fine form that day! My apologies to our friends in the areas loaded with more snow than they know what to do with. ~SueBee
I treated my oldest daughter, Angelika, to a stage show at the gorgeous Segerstrom Theatre in Costa Mesa last Thursday evening, for a performance of Dirty Dancing. That had always been one of her favorite movies. Before she arrived from work, I wandered around, using my iPhone to take the pictures in this gallery. The theatre is in […]
Our entry into this week’s photo challenge theme of symmetry was taken this past Saturday when I took a spontaneous drive to Oak Glen in Riverside County. The cabin is part of the historical village at Riley’s Farm, a place visited by school children to learn about America’s past. ~SueBee
Nothing like breakfast out! Tried an adorable hole-in-the-wall cafe this morning called Orange Cafe in the city of Orange. Had the most delicious crab cake benedicts, home style potatoes, and fruit. Definitely recommend! ~Kat
Here’s wishing a Happy Valentine’s Day to those with sweeties, and a wonderful regular day to the rest of us! This photo of a discarded heart in the sand was taken at Newport Beach near the pier. ~SueBee
Last Friday after work, and after dinner at the Crab Cooker, I attended a concert at the Lido Theatre in Newport Beach. When it opened in 1938, the Lido was a movie theater. These days, it’s used for live concerts and occasional special showing movies. I arrived early and felt lucky to get a front row seat! On stage was a […]
Our blog hasn’t featured a restaurant recommendation in ages, so it’s high time we do one again. This past Friday after work, and before the concert I would be attending, I treated myself to dinner at the Crab Cooker seafood restaurant in Newport Beach. My dad used to take our family there when I was a teenager, and I hadn’t been in […]
My recent after-work visit to Newport Beach yielded quite a variety of photos. This gallery contains some of the sights as I walked along the way back to the ferry boat. ~SueBee
Today’s Foto Fix was taken from the Newport Beach Pier a few evenings ago as the setting sun cast it’s final golden rays of the day. ~SueBee
My inventory of photos from my two night get-away in Palm Springs at the end of December is nearly endless! The photos in this gallery were taken after I hiked Andreas Canyon and then headed toward the Reservation Trading Post, where I had hoped to explore West Fork Trail and Palm Canyon. I ended up venturing onto just the very […]
Photo taken at the end of Newport Beach Pier this past Friday after work. I loved the expression of the little girl, looking up at her father as he fixed his fishing line.~SueBee
On the sand at sunset, photographing a rugged old pier jutting into a silky, pearlescent ocean… there were several of us with the same idea! These photos were taken at Newport Beach this past Friday after I was off work. ~SueBee
