The day was overcast and on the chilly side, but that didn’t dampen my enjoyment of a visit to Lucas, Kansas. I drove about an hour and a half on country roads, which in itself was really nice. After living in very crowded, urban Southern California for most of my life, I absolutely love the endless open space in Kansas. While Kansas has a reputation for being flat, it’s not. I drove miles through a beautiful hilly area and I know the eastern half of the state is also very hilly.
