Party Party, Pink Martini style!

My recent big number birthday was celebrated in style, Pink Martini style, at the Hollywood Bowl, a fantastic venue, by the way. Guest list complete, invitations emailed, planning centered on an all-pink theme. All-pink for two reasons, the first being rather obvious – the name of the Portland, Oregon band playing. In fact, In fact, Pink Martini (the band) was unknown to me until I went onto the Hollywood Bowl website for my birthday weekend, discovered them, and bought the tickets. The second reason being that pink has always been my least favorite personal color.

While pink is generally pretty, I never wore it, not even as a child, being the exact opposite of the froo froo ribbons, lace, and “pink is for girls” child. So, it seemed fitting that due to my new “age” rapidly approaching, and to make a statement on both that and the color, I would request my guests wear pink, all our food would be pink, decorations pink, drinks pink, pink, pink!

To say we had a blast is an understatement! The evening was spectacular, food delicious, music perfection itself! A few drops of very unexpected mid-summer rain just prior to our picnic added just the right conversation piece to the memory album! ~SueBee
