It seems almost sacrilegious that, despite living most my life in Los Angeles, I’d never been to a Laker’s game… until last night! I finally attended, thanks to my oldest daughter, Angelika, asking me to join her and our friend, Cynthia, at Honda Center in Anaheim for the final pre-season game.
Traffic was a nightmare – standard for Southern California, so we parked a distance off and walked. Lining up for entry, I then had fun convincing the head security guy that my zoom lens wasn’t longer than 6″. Using skills I’m sure were passed down to my son the attorney, I was able to maintain possession of camera and lenses. I had no such luck with my flimsy backpack, though. Transferring the few contents into my pockets, it was checked into the customer service booth, as I noticed several women walking by with suitcase-sized purses, over twice the size of my little backpack. Oh well. It’s all about the shape and name. Anyway, the game was a blast, our seats perfect, the beer spot-on. And, best of all, Lakers won 111-106! ~SueBee
