Visiting Coronado Heights

Following an afternoon wandering around the Swedish town of Lindsborg, about 45 minutes north of my home, I started exploring the surrounding area. I’d heard of Coronado Heights before, and was very happy to stumble across it. Per Wikipedia, “It is alleged to be near the place where Francisco Vásquez de Coronado gave up his search for the seven cities of gold and turned around to return to Mexico. Coronado Heights is one of a chain of seven sandstone bluffs in the Dakota Formation and rises approximately 300 feet.”

The wind had kicked up by the time I was on top of the hill, it was quite chilly, and after getting these pictures I felt it was time to head for home. ~SueBee

Not much to protect you from the wind apart from the fort. Bare country.

The wide open prairie…. was an ocean in ancient history. Quite the change from Southern California, I can tell you that! But, I can afford to live here, and have enjoyed it thus far.
