Note, I started making these in January, 2024, and as of January, 2026, I have fifteen completed. I’ve had so much fun, using my sometimes whacky imagination, scrounging materials from junk stores and yard sales, and on occasion, my own home. I never spend more than a dollar or two, although in making Solvang the Ostrich I did spend $5 on the creepy doll. I generally let the materials speak to me, and the pieces evolve organically. With Solvang, though, I really wanted to make an ostrich. It’s the favorite animal of my oldest daughter Angelika’s longtime partner, Baldur. There’s an ostrich ranch in Solvang, California they visited a few years back, hence the name I chose for the piece. ~SueBee
