I had a lot of fun making this one, number 9 in Assemblage lineup. Elijah headed west in 1849, found a good creek to pan, did well for awhile… and then his luck ran out and he ended up in jail. I started and finished this piece in a single day. Elijah was originally a holiday nut cracker (such as the one I used for Time Warrior) that I cut the crown off of and changed out an arm. I made his clothing from fabric scraps. His hat and candleholder are old salt shakers. The jail cell bars were made by my sister-in-law’s dad many years ago to use as a cooling rack for cookies. The bed is part of a highway light reflector that I broke apart for this use, resting on corks standing in as the bed legs. Elijah was finished in May, 2024. ~SueBee
