Being a native Southern California gal, the beach is part of my soul. It’s not the umbrella and beach towel, slathering up with sunscreen, or oiling to a deep bronze that I love, it’s the beach combing, sunsets, and surfer’s devotion to their sport that I’m fascinated by. A recent jaunt to Surf City USA (aka Huntington Beach, aka HB) had my Nikon D5100 and me glued to a group of pre-teens intent on catching that perfect wave. While some of their fellow classmates were undoubtedly video gaming, these kids were rolling in the surf, sometimes literally! And yet again and again they got back up and paddled out.
