See You Again, Trabuco Canyon!

Map perusing, curiousity, insight from a friend, and a dinner date with mom led to a quick peek at Trabuco Canyon after work today. Facing an early sunset, there wasn’t much time to explore. I picked up mom, and made our first stop at Rancho Santa Margarita Lake, a man-made lake surrounded by large tract homes. We wandered the immaculate, lakeside path for a few minutes, then ventured off in search of a more rustic scene. Stumbling onto Trabuco Canyon Road, a winding little street running downhill into a riverbed, seemed just the ticket. Veering off that, and leading towards the mountains, came Rose Canyon Road and Trabuco Oaks Drive. We explored until daylight gave out, and further pictures on the fly would be a lost cause. There’s plenty of fun personality tucked away in those tiny canyons, though, and a great restaurant to boot! The Rose Canyon Cantina & Grill was really good. It reminded mom of a family-owned Mexican Restaurant called Lupe’s, in Thousand Oaks, that she loved. Darkness came, exploring ended, but there’s definitely sufficient reason for a return visit. ~SueBee
