Welcome to SwittersB
I see that sunflowers are very big in Kansas. Are they just grown for oil?
Your question prompted me to do a bit of research. It seems sunflower oil is a large reason for the crops, but they’re also used for bird seed and human consumption. Once the 40 lb bag of black oil sunflower birdseed is down to a weight I can more easily lift, I’ll see if the bag shows if the seeds are from Kansas. I know the red cardinals and blue jays in my yard just love those seeds, as well as do the squirrels. I’m also anxious to find some sunflower honey that’s locally produced so I can taste it.
My sunflower seeds often seem to come from Bulgaria.
That’s very interesting. Bulgaria might have a similar climate to Kansas perhaps.
I can’t say about that.
Me neither! Well, I’ll just say the more sunflowers in the world, the better.
That is probably true.
I found this website that you might find interesting: https://shopkansasfarms.com/announcement/growing-sunflowers-in-kansas
Thank you. I will look at it.
