I’ve enjoyed a variety of art forms for many years by now, from sewing to painting, photography to junk journals, from assemblage to weaving. I don’t have any formal training, other than a semester of art and one of sewing, back in high school. I actually prefer to be self-taught, and figure things out for myself. I feel that allows me to retain my own style and not fall into established norms and rules.
I can’t say I have a favorite art form. I’ll get an idea in my head, or will see something that gives me inspiration, and that’s all it takes. Some pieces go fast, others take many hours or days. I actually supported myself and my three kids for a decade by designing and sewing custom Irish Dance dresses. After that era, I became very interested in photography and felt so special when I was able to purchase a Nikon 35mm DSLR camera in 2013. This particular blog site (SueBee and Kat) was born thanks to the Nikon camera and wanting a place to share the pictures I was taking, along with my youngest daughter, Katherine. The blog has evolved over the years and will now also be a repository for pictures of as many of my art items as I can get uploaded.
