We’re lucky! We live in Southern California, which is like having the entire world within one time zone, easy driving distance for an afternoon’s outing. The variety of traditions, cultures, languages, foods (yum!), religions… is incredible.
A place I enjoy visiting often for a unique cultural experience (along with their ever-rotating, amazing exhibits), is the Bowers in Santa Ana, one of our museum jewels. As Kat wrote in her Russian Dancer article, the Bowers hosts a monthly cultural day, sponsored by Target. A year ago I was at the Bowers as Dia de Los Muertos was being celebrated, as it will be again this year, tomorrow, Sunday, November 3. I was enveloped in beautiful costumes, music and dance, and am sharing my experience with you via the gallery below. If you get a chance, I suggest a visit to the Bowers. It’s one of a kind, and very special. ~SueBee (photos by SueBee)

I have to be reminded of this event next year. I’m sure I’m going to love it. Day of the Dead looks so “lively”. 😀 Love the costumes and vibrant colors.. Thanks for the share.
Good point – definitely a “living” contradiction, what could be better?!! ~SueBee
