unyielding stone beneath worn down bone
protective cape, a ragged drape
shoulders stooped and sagging
reflective eyes, wherein memory lies
of many tries, of failed ties
self-made walls, treasured halls
the daily shift, that load to lift
cannot stay, don’t care to pray
must get through another day
This week’s Photo Challenge theme is Endurance, which I’ve interpreted as the plight of the homeless. Photo taken of a homeless woman and her curbside home in downtown Los Angeles. ~SueBee (poem and photo by SueBee)
They do endure a lot. This is a thoughtful response to the challenge. 🙂
Thank you, Imelda.
