(8 photos) Rock climbing Red Rock is very popular. I found it fascinating to watch, thanks to my zoom lens, as my friends gave me a tour of the area recently. It’s a sport requiring skill, endurance, patience, determination, and I would imagine finger strength (?!). ~SueBee
(16 photos) During my recent visit to Nevada, my friends toured us through Death Valley, on to the ghost town of Rhyolite, the town of Beatty, and then to Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge. The refuge was absolutely fascinating. Crystal clear, turquoise water in the middle of the desert, with wee, tiny fish that flourish […]
I’m sharing a couple pictures taken with my iPhone camera of a gorgeous monarch butterfly resting on the butterfly bush in my back yard, and beautiful orange roses clipped from my front garden. ~SueBee
Taking an evening walk along the Seal Beach Pier yesterday, I stopped to watch this fisherman getting his line ready and noticed a boat speeding right toward us. It managed a nice sideways maneuver and unloaded a worker from the oil platform visible in the distance. ~SueBee
Jackrabbit and his shadow, close friends on sunny days. Weekly Photo Challenge: Friend. Photo taken at Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge in Death Valley. ~SueBee
This large metal sculpture was a very bizarre scene to stumble across in Death Valley’s ghost town of Rhyolite. Therefore, a good choice for my occasional Daily Foto Fix category. ~SueBee
Today’s Foto Fix features a shot taken as sunlight slipped through a crack in the cloud cover and highlighted a slice of Red Rock Canyon. ~SueBee
Today’s Foto Fix was taken near the ghost town of Rhyolite, Nevada. I try to imagine who built this shack, who spent time within its walls, what dreams they had… ~SueBee Four Walls Four walls are all I need to roll out my bed at night, hold off the critters from my grub store my […]
During my visit to Pahrump, Nevada, last week, my friends toured me through the Red Rock Canyon area. To say it’s spectacularly beautiful is an understatement. I hope to return one day for some hiking as I’m sure the views from the top must be even more incredible. ~SueBee
A few unusual street signs I spotted while my friends were touring me through the Red Rock Canyon area in Nevada! ~SueBee
I’m submitting a second entry for this week’s Photo Challenge, Evanescent, with this photo I took at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area in Nevada last week. Notice the climber making an attempt up the side of the rock. Well, not a second after taking the picture, the climber slipped off the rock and was […]
This week, the WordPress Photo Challenge asks us for a photo interpreting Evanescent (an adjective defined as soon passing out of sight, memory, or existence; quickly fading or disappearing). I chose a photo I took last week at Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge near Death Valley of a very speedy jackrabbit. He was gone in […]
In the ghost town of Rhyolite, on the edge of Death Valley, stands an unusual open air art museum featuring the ghostly Last Supper, created by Polish Beligian artist Albert Szukalski. ~SueBee
(11 Photos) After leaving the Opera House, we headed into Death Valley, stopping for the view at Zabriskie Point. Wow, is an understatement… see for yourself via this gallery of pics! ~SueBee
(14 photos) My friends, Aranka and her husband George, whom I visited in Pahrump, Nevada, earlier this week took me on a fabulous tour of the local area. On Tuesday, our destination was Death Valley. Driving through some pretty unforgiving land, there suddenly stood the Amargosa Opera House! I linked to their website for those […]
After returning home from Kat’s wedding in Julian (a couple hours south from home), I collapsed into bed, and then got up to hit the road again. My destination would be a town called Pahrump in the Nevada desert, about an hour northwest of Las Vegas, new home of a long-time friend. I headed out […]
(11 photos) I’m back from Kat and Cam’s wedding in Julian this past weekend, and also from a short visit to friends in the state of Nevada. Let me start by saying the wedding was perfect! It was everything the newlyweds dreamed of, and planned for the past 14 months. The pictures in this gallery were […]
Here we are again, Monday morning, ugh. But, we must make the best of it, appreciate each and every day, even if it’s a Monday! Kat’s wedding countdown = 5 days! (Photographer disclaimer – I won’t be the one taking pictures at Kat’s wedding, I’m not even taking my camera so I can focus entirely […]
(8 photos) These animals were all kind enough to pose in profile for me during my recent visit to San Diego Zoo Safari Park near Escondido, California. ~SueBee
