After returning home from Kat’s wedding in Julian (a couple hours south from home), I collapsed into bed, and then got up to hit the road again. My destination would be a town called Pahrump in the Nevada desert, about an hour northwest of Las Vegas, new home of a long-time friend. I headed out at 9am and arrived four hours later. Departing Interstate 15 at Baker, home of the world’s tallest thermometer that indicated a nice 77 degrees, I found myself on a very lonely stretch of road (no cell phone service)… for the next 85 miles. After a pleasant drive through big sky land and fascinating terrain, I made it safely to my friend’s home. ~SueBee
