I recently enjoyed my fifth annual boat trip to the city of Avalon on Catalina Island, 26 miles off Southern California’s coast. While there are certain activities I always love doing, I set my mind to do new things this time around. I managed that quite nicely and still have many more new experiences for future years.
The boat trip takes just over an hour; my departure was set for 8:15am. I’d arrived at the terminal at 7:15, as required. The morning was overcast which kept the temperature down, the seas were calm. Upon arrival, I called for a shuttle from my hotel so I wouldn’t have to drag my little suitcase across the tiled walk and up the hill. This would be my first time spending the night on the island in decades. Once I checked in, and surprisingly was given my room key straight away, I went in search of breakfast. Photos in the below gallery show my first day on Catalina; my next post will show the second. ~SueBee
I wonder why we never visited there. Such a loss for us.
I’m sorry you missed seeing it in person. The ferry ride over is quite expensive and that kept me from going for years while my kids were younger.
A splendid place for a visit it seems.
Yes, it certainly is!
