It started raining yesterday morning, and came down quite hard through the day and night. Lots more rain is in the forecast, surprisingly enough! I decided to take a walk before it really started to come down, and then wandered through my yard. I live in a mobile home in a senior community (55+) with a lovely garden area on three sides. I’m so lucky as most homes here have nothing but concrete around them. The yard was just dirt and weedy grass, no planters, no plants, nothing, when I moved in at the end of 2015. It’s been such fun designing the garden layouts, choosing plants, doing the work. I decided to use a beach decor throughout my home and as best as possible, in the garden, too. I named my home Hastings Cottage (check out my blog’s home page for the name’s back story). It’s perfect for me and I love it.
The colors and variety of plants, all sparkly with raindrops, were so pretty I took some pictures with my phone. I think looking at flowers is a nice break from the craziness that is our world currently. I hope you all remain safe and healthy. ~SueBee
The nasturtium I planted a few years back pops up every spring.
White lantana
Geranium in a deep peach color
Another bold and beautiful geranium
Some sort of desert plant
Donkey Tail grown from a clipping of my mom’s that she’d been growing since I was a kid… she passed away 4 years ago at age 98
Fig tree in the back grew out of nowhere!
My potting table with some succulent cuttings from my brother that I potted
The new desert garden I planted after the neighbor’s shed that was on my space was torn down. I love having this garden now.
Milkweed that popped up by itself; attracts monarch butterflies.
Pear shaped gourd adding a touch of whimsy in the new desert area.
The color has faded in the past few days, from a brilliant coral color. I don’t know the name of this.
Beautiful succulent that spreads like a weed
Limequat (cross between key lime and kumquat) from my oldest daughter
Cairn I built in my side yard
I painted this in my signature beach color
A tiny cairn
I just learned this spreading plant is called parrot beak
