This is the final installment from my visit to the Heritage Day event in nearby Yoder, Kansas. I think most everyone felt very lucky it was a bit cloudy and hadn’t gotten to the forecast 98 degrees. Watching the races was a highlight for me as I’d never seen something like that in person before.
After the harness racing at noon, it was heating up and humid, so I made my way to my car and headed for home. Later in the day, I felt sad for those in Yoder as thunder, lightning, and rain started and I’m sure the scheduled fireworks had to be cancelled. The rain was very welcome, though, and for farmers I’m sure that edged out fireworks! All in all, it appeared to be a highly successful event and I plan on returning next year. ~SueBee

Trotting is very odd. Making horses run slower than they could is rather like asking people to swim breaststroke in races, another odd thing. Good pictures though.
It was interesting, that’s for sure. Thank you.
