Long Beach, the coastal microcosm of Los Angeles, gathers it all together and spits it back out seaside. There’s the trendy shops and restaurants, hustling/bustling bars, and crazy parking along 2nd Street, the gritty docks and harbors, the literal long beach with an extended ped/bike path fighting to overcome the sand, a super supportive gay-friendly mecca presenting an annual PRIDE parade and festival, high rise apartment buildings along the coast, an abundance of craftsman-style historic homes throughout, the Arts District along 4th Street, a great bike friendly atmosphere, the vibrancy and craziness gathered around a major university, upscale homes bordering the canals, ocean life on display at the fabulous Aquarium of the Pacific, and more. Exploring has endless possibilities as you most likely gathered from that brief description!
I spent a few afternoon hours in LB yesterday, visiting my oldest daughter, enjoying a favorite brewery, and the perfect temperature on their seaside patio. Below are a few pictures I snapped along the coast, and later after sunset, along one of the many canals. ~SueBee (photos by SueBee)
