Gathering at the designated meeting point for a recent photography walking tour of Broadway in downtown Los Angeles, we waited for others to arrive. I started scanning the surrounding area, anxious to get started, and noticed window washers high up the side of a building.I was a bit perplexed they were working on a Saturday, so I switched over to my zoom lens for a better look.
Faux window washers I quickly realized! Very, very cool. Instantly I was click, click, clicking, as the main group started off down the street and I rushed to catch up. The photos were quickly forgotten, replaced by multitudes of other interesting sights. As I chose photos for my Rooftop Shoot article, I realized that same building was the one with the faux window washers.
I took a closer look. Oh my gosh, the entire side of the building is faux…. right? Or not? Are all the windows painted on? Is the rope painted on? The cornice is faux, see?
And, you can barely see the outline of bricks behind the painted windows in the picture below.
If you can figure out where faux ends and real begins, please let me know. I’m still perplexed, and completely in awe of the artist! ~SueBee (photos by SueBee)
