It’s been in the 90’s here in Southern California this past week, ridiculously hot for April/May, which prompts me to search for pictures of the ocean. This shot of Calafia Beach, taken in early April, seems perfect for cooling down. It also brought back memories of a favorite song, beautifully performed by Peter, Paul, and Mary, called 500 Miles (partial lyrics below). As kids, my brother and I eagerly anticipated the camping trips my dad and mom took us on. We’d sit around the campfire at night, my brother playing his guitar and singing popular folk songs of the day, 500 Miles being one of my favorites that he did. ~SueBee (photo by SueBee)
“If you miss the train I’m on, you will know that I am gone
You can hear the whistle blow a hundred miles,
a hundred miles, a hundred miles, a hundred miles, a hundred miles,
You can hear the whistle blow a hundred miles.~”

I love the curving geometry of a railway track.
