(14 photos) It’s often impossible when living and working in the concrete jungle of Southern California to imagine that rustic, rural places do still exist around us… and often within very short driving distances. This past Sunday, I took myself for a drive and a bit of exploring in the region south of where I live in Orange. I was curious about a place called Modjeska Canyon, off Santiago Canyon Road, about 17 miles from home. I drove a very narrow road off the main highway and found a quaint, beautiful setting that was so refreshing. Near the end of the road was a small nature center that I’ll show you in a separate post. After touring the nature center, and heading back out of the canyon, I decided to stop and walk around “downtown Modjeska”… the sign an obvious exaggeration painted by someone with a great sense of humor. Regardless, I thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon in “town”! ~SueBee

A great set of pictures. Life in the slow lane and all the better for that.
It’s nice there are places like this still left in our over-crowded area of the world.
Looks like someplace I’d enjoy
