I realized yesterday while starting a few projects in my craft room that I hadn’t been to Oak Glen for some time, so I put aside the projects and hopped in my little truck. The 1 and a 1/4 hour drive was pleasant. I went straight away to a favorite spot, Snow Line, for coffee and apple cider mini donuts, their specialty. While waiting for the donuts to cook, the proprietor offered me a wine tasting of their newest apple wines….a great surprise, very tasty, and naturally I left with two new bottles of wine!
The afternoon on the mountain was fantastic as it was mostly empty of people. Others must have heard the forecast of showers and stayed away. I was grateful as the rain never showed up and I had the place nearly to myself. The fields of wild flowers must have been spectacular a week or two prior as the flowers had mostly dried up and yet were still gorgeous.
Ending a wonderful time wandering the trails at the Oak Glen Preserve, I stopped for a bite to eat at Apple Annie’s… having their “light eaters”/senior fried chicken dinner special which was still enough for two! ~SueBee
Well worth the visit.
Never fails to please.
