(10 photos) I just returned from a four day get-away, what I’m calling a mini road trip. It was so refreshing …I don’t refer to my trips as relaxing because I’m not able to sit still, but a change of scenery, new places to explore, lots of photo ops, that’s my kind of trip!
Saturday, I drove from my home in Orange, California, up north for a first stop at our former hometown area of Thousand Oaks and Newbury Park. It was great reminiscing, having dinner with dear friends, seeing the old haunts. Staying at a hotel in an area I raised my kids and lived in for nearly 20 years was a unique experience!
On Sunday, I drove further up Hwy 101, stopping many times along the way, finally ending up in the Danish village of Solvang. It’s quite a tourist spot, but I hoped for off-season to be reason enough for fewer crowds. It turned out to be a good choice. The area at this time of year is gorgeous. The Santa Ynez Valley has become another of California’s wine countries, and honestly, every other shop in town offered wine tastings! Wineries dot the landscape, along with ranches and pumpkin patches, all excellent for the Autumn atmosphere.
I have lots of photos to go through as you can well imagine, so I’ve included just a few to get started. ~SueBee
It looks gorgeous
Beautiful area. The three nights away truly felt like a long vacation.
