WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge asked us to interpret Weathered. For my entry, I’m including a few pictures I took downtown Los Angeles of the very weathered signage and exterior decor of the Palace Theatre. Per their website , “The Palace Theatre opened on June 26, 1911 as the Orpheum Theatre—the third home of Orpheum vaudeville in Los Angeles, but the first new theater built specifically for the popular vaudeville chain…. In 2011, the Palace Theatre celebrated its 100th birthday, following a $1-million renovation that is destined to help restore the theatre’s status as a popular Los Angeles venue for concerts, live performances, special events, film screenings and more.” I took these pictures during a visit to downtown Los Angeles, while doing some street photography, and viewing historic sites. There are endless places to explore. ~SueBee
That last shot really says it add, doesn’t it?! Excellent choice for the week
Thanks, Tina. Yes, it surely does!
To think of this place as once vibrant and a mecca for entertainment and laughter….oh my.
I was wondering where the recent million/s on renovations went…. certainly not on the exterior!
I’d wonder too.
