My entry into this week’s Photo Challenge of a Favorite Place is a picture I took at Southern California’s Corona Del Mar beach. It truly is a favorite place.
When my mom passed away nearly two years ago, her ashes were scattered at sea, as per her wishes, joining my dad. That same day, my three adult kids and I held a private memorial at the spot where I took this picture. We drank mom’s favorite wine, tossed flower petals to the waves, and I read a poem I’d written. I often go to this very spot to reflect, talk to my parents, gaze out on the water. My mom and dad had a sailboat before my brother and I were born… I’m certain they’re sailing the ocean once again, on their way to Catalina to dance to the Big Bands, and I’m happy I can visit them at my favorite place. ~SueBee
So poignant. Love the water too.
It’s a beautiful spot.
A special connection for a beautiful place…
Yes, it really is. Thank you.
What a touching story. And a great memory both of the place and your parents.
Thank you. ❤
