I decided on a late evening walk yesterday, arriving at my destination (Oak Canyon Nature Trail in Anaheim Hills, California) just before dusk. Getting out of the car I realized I’d gotten there too late; it gets dark very quickly. I therefore figured I’d wander just a wee bit up the trail and turn back. Well, I didn’t get very far before hearing what I thought was water running. It wasn’t water, it was goats! Chomping, rustling, chomping, pushing, shoving… it was a sight I’d never seen. Incredible, chaos, dust flying… one goat even got into the tree to reach a choice bite! I saw a sign explaining the goats were at work, doing a very helpful job eating dry brush, helping stave off wildfires.
I wandered up the trail as I’d originally intended, then turned around. As I approached the goat enclosure, a truck backed up to the fence. I realized it was feeding time. Wow, what a photo op that was! I hope you enjoy, and wish I could share the little video I shot with my iPhone. The noise was absolutely UNreal as my mom would say! ~SueBee
What an unexpected treat for you.
I thanked my lucky stars for the perfect timing!
