Visiting Two Harbors

I’m a bit behind on my posting, but wanted to share more pictures from my recent visit to Catalina Island. I stayed overnight, and in the morning took a large speedboat called the Cyclone from the port of Avalon to the other end of the island, Two Harbors. It was my first time doing so, but surely not my last. I loved how undeveloped it was there; it truly felt like going back in a time machine… pre-crowds and developers. It’s described on the website as “Located on Catalina’s west end, Two Harbors is a mere 22 miles from the Southern California mainland. This rustic village sits on a narrow strip of land that separates Isthmus Cove on the leeward side of the island from Catalina Harbor on the windward side. ”

I spent the day wandering around, going from Isthmus Cove where we docked, to exploring Catalina Harbor on the other side of the island. The distance between harbors isn’t much, less than a mile I’m guessing. It was hot, though, so upon my return, I went directly to the beach-side restaurant and ordered delicious fish tacos and a Margarita for my lunch. I followed that with a bit of kayaking along the coast until it was time for the return ride to Avalon. If you get a chance to visit Catalina Island, I highly recommend a visit to Two Harbors! ~SueBee
