Washing Out 2019

I made my fourth annual trek to Newport Beach yesterday morning to write the year in the sand and let it wash out with the waves. I’ll tell you, the task isn’t as easy as one might think. Writing numbers big enough to show up in a picture, close enough to the water’s edge that the numbers do wash away, and yet, far enough back to actually write the entire four digits before a wave comes in… It took me several attempts to get these two sets of pictures. I ended up soaked to my knees, so it didn’t matter that I’d rolled my pants up. In spite of snow on the mountains in the distance behind me, the water was surprisingly warm and felt wonderful! Bye bye 2019. ~SueBee

How fun is this project! I wish I lived close enough to the sea to attempt it.
