I realize the time frame of my baby avocado tree is nearly matching that of Covid19 here in the US. The first case of the virus was diagnosed in Seattle, Washington on January 21. I bought the avocado on January 17, let it ripen, then cut it open on January 25. It was absolutely delicious! I’m not sure the exact date I put the pit into water, but I took a picture on February 23 showing the root length on that day. I then planted the seed in a plastic coffee can on March 13, after drilling holes in the bottom for drainage. While I hope my avocado tree continues to grow, I wish only that Covid19 withers away. ~SueBee
Note: I started another avocado pit within a week or two of this one, but as of today, it hasn’t rooted and still sits in a cup of water.
How cool! I’ve never tried this, but maybe I should. It would be fun!
I feel like a proud parent!!
Good planting work.
Thank you.
