My interpretation of this week’s Photo Challenge of the word Atop is of an artist, holding the water color painting I ended up purchasing, as he stood atop Telegraph Hill in San Francisco. My son’s fiance, Loren, and I had walked a great distance up a steep hill, and climbed many steps to reach this […]
My entry into this week’s Photo Challenge topic of Wish was taken in downtown Los Angeles. My wish is the same millions of others wish for, that we’re not sorted and classified into categories. We’re one, simply human. ~SueBee
I took a short vacation a few months back and explored the area along Southern California’s coast. Driving south from my hometown of Orange, there remain a few places that aren’t lined with housing tracts bumper to bumper. So refreshing! While keeping an eye out for art in public places as I drove along, I found […]
Today’s Foto Fix was taken at the Brewery Artwalk in downtown Los Angeles. As a reminder, the Artwalk is happening this coming weekend, Oct 22-23! ~SueBee
(20 photos) I was thrilled to capture such an array of street art during my recent spontaneous trip to Los Angeles. ~SueBee
My random day in Los Angeles on Saturday led me to the Music Center and Grand Park for a beautiful and poignant Dia de los Muertos display. There were many heartfelt sentiments displayed, as evidenced by the photos in this gallery. ~SueBee
(18 photos) I had a very spontaneous visit to Los Angeles yesterday, after dropping my son off there. When he asked if I could do him this favor, naturally my mind went directly to my trusty sidekick, the Nikon! So, camera in hand, I ended up exploring from one end of the city to the other. […]
Kat and I spent this past Sunday together, out n’ about and exploring, just like old times! We took the train from Orange to Union Station in downtown Los Angeles, with hopes of getting in the brand new Broad Museum. No luck for us in that regard, though. We hadn’t made advance entry reservations (it’s free […]
Driving around the city is always interesting, with so much to see. The shots in this gallery were taken on the Westside of Los Angeles, near the Carthay Square area. ~SueBee
Just a touch of the Arts District from when I drove through recently on my way further into downtown Los Angeles. It’s a fascinating part of the city. I need to return when I have more time to wander around. ~SueBee
Continuing on from part 1 of Kat’s and my recent visit to downtown Los Angeles, this gallery showcases some fabulous street art, most of which was shot while meandering through the Arts District. I’ll definitely be going back there soon… lots of trendy restaurants and boutiques to sample, explore! ~SueBee (photos by SueBee)
On the second floor of The Last Bookstore in downtown Los Angeles, is a labyrinth of rooms lined with bookshelves, which if followed along for a ways, will lead to the Fold Gallery and Curio Shop! It’s a fascinating place. The Fold Curio Shop, with a floor covered in copper pennies, to which you may contribute via a […]
Serenity and bonsai are two of many features in the Japanese garden at Southern California’s Huntington Library and Gardens in San Marino. I’m always intrigued by the bonsai, reflective of the utmost in patience and determination. It’s an art form that demonstrates such a contrast to today’s “two second society” as to be nearly incomprehensible. ~SueBee (photos by SueBee)
Saw some amazing graffiti driving around Hollywood…something different down every alley way. Never know what you’re going to find on the next wall! ~Kat (pics by Kat)
Photo taken in a West Hollywood back alley, north of Melrose, vines adding a bit of whimsy to the artwork. ~SueBee (photo by SueBee)
Was cruising through Hollywood with SueBee, snapping pics of the most unusual looking wall art. Thought this one was really neat! ~Kat (pic by Kat)
The photos in this gallery showcase the hardy plant Kat spotted as we cruised Melrose in Hollywood and West Los Angeles this past Sunday. Among the art-encrusted back alleys we bumped along, directly behind trendy shops, struggled this tomato vine, peeping through the fence, offering its fruit to anyone who would have it. ~SueBee (photos by Kat)
