Not Pumping Iron

Driving around the hills of Brea, in northern Orange County, you’ll find countless old, rusty pumps still going strong. The city of Brea, meaning “tar” in Spanish, was apparently quite the oil town. Founded in 1917, the city grew up as a place for the oil workers to live. The hills around Brea are still dotted with pumps. Today’s Foto Fix features one of the pumps on Brea Canyon Road. I always thought these pumps resembled horses out in the field, leaning down for a bite of grass. ~SueBee (photo by SueBee)Not Pumping Iron

Ha! Yes, so true. Kinda like a PIN Number, and a UPC Code, etc. Redundancy abounds, lol. ~SueBee

Thank you! All I did was brighten color a bit, texture belongs to the pump, lol! ~SueBee
