It seems a dining recommendation is long overdue. While downtown Los Angeles at the Brewery Artwalk this past weekend, Kat and I visited the San Antonio Winery, two streets over from the Brewery. Not only do they offer free wine tastings (I’m certain they’re the ONLY winery still offering that wonderful service), but the Maddelena Restaurant nestled among the wine vats is fantastic!
As you approach the restaurant, you’ll notice tables with all the meal choices plated and covered with plastic wrap. So clever! You can see what you’ll get before ordering. You then order your meal from the counter, are given some crusty French bread and butter, take a little cup of olives and pickled vegetables if you’d like, then slide along to make your beverage choice. Once you pay, your tray is carried by a waiter to a table, and your meal delivered shortly thereafter. Portions are large, meals delicious. When Kat and I were there on Sunday, we ordered the deep-fried calamari with marinara dipping sauce, and a plate of cheese as our mid-afternoon snack. We highly recommend a visit to the San Antonio Winery, founded in 1917, the year my mom was born! ~SueBee (photos by SueBee)
