My last article featured photos of People Watching at the Orange County Fair, while this one will focus on the vast array of Food offerings. Not having been to a county fair in years, I’d forgotten about this part of the experience. I felt overwhelmed while taking these pictures, but set my mind to showing you the variety available. I don’t know where the current bacon fad comes from, but nearly every food booth offered some sort of bacon – even bacon cotton candy (yuck). 
And, nearly every food booth was touting FRIED. I eat as little fried food as possible, and don’t really care for bacon, so perhaps you can appreciate my dismay at seeing bacon wrapped deep-fried pickles and turkey legs, a frozen banana wrapped in chocolate and coated with peanut butter and bacon, or a maple bacon deep-fried donut. The picture below proudly states the theme of Fair Food – UNHEALTHY! Maybe that’s the point of going to the Fair… living life on the edge, walking the wild side, live for today as there may not be a tomorrow.

I couldn’t decide how to share my photos with you, but finally broke them up into the galleries below. First, we’ll start with photos of some actual food in all its glory:

While my goal was to take a picture of ALL the various food offerings, I found that idea impossible. The selection was endless! Once my daughter joined me, we each bought a corn dog (yes, it was deep fried!) and a beer. ~SueBee (photos by SueBee)

The food at country fairs is supposed to be awful, but some of these really take the (deep-fried chocolate) cake!

It’s like … watching zombies … or something! I am speechless! In your second image (#28) I can actually see a casualty being airlifted from the scene!
I’m sure there are plenty hauled away on stretchers. Really, the reputation of Americans being fat is not helped by county fairs!!
