My son shared a news story a few days ago with this headline: “Pacific coast shark attacks on the rise and kayakers may be most at risk“. He suggested I take up another hobby. While it’s easy to be fearful, I’ve thought it through and decided no, I’m not going to let the sharks win, haha. The most fun I’ve had in recent years has been during my annual trips to Catalina Island and kayaking there. While most of my ocean kayaking, both mainland and off the island, has been within harbors, at Catalina, Kat and I went up the coast, open ocean. Naturally I don’t want to be the main course for a shark’s dinner… but, where do you draw the line. Headlines are meant to sell papers (or digital access?)… what are the real numbers. Food for thought?! ~SueBee
