About an hour’s drive down Southern California’s coast from me lies the beautiful seaside town of San Clemente. It’s probably most famous for being home to President Richard Nixon’s Western White House. The mansion is currently on the market for a mere $57.5 million dollars, in case you have a bit of pocket change needing to be spent.
I’ve driven through the town many times, had lunch on the pier with Kat and my mom a few years ago, but hadn’t spent an entire day there previously… my loss. The town is truly a gem. What seems to be the main drag, Avenida Del Mar, runs perpendicular to the coast and has a slightly steep incline. Cute beachy shops, a wide variety of restaurants, and other stores line several blocks of that street. As an added bonus, a free shuttle trolley runs from the bus stop on Avenida Del Mar down to the beach, stopping directly at the pier. What a great idea someone had to set that up! I parked for free near the library, caught the shuttle, and had lunch on the pier. I highly recommend a visit to San Clemente! ~SueBee
I will get there as soon as I can. 🙂
It looks well worth a visit.
I think you and Mrs. T would enjoy yourselves!
