Courage, guts, and a “you won’t beat me” attitude came to my mind while watching this seagull hold his ground (sand) as a “giant” wave loomed behind him, the first of several that he outsmarted. Yeah, maybe he was clever enough, or had experience enough, to know where the wave would crash and that he’d be safe, but regardless, his determination really struck me! He didn’t budge. I’m sure there’s a life lesson to be learned from my seagull. In fact, I could probably print this picture, add the word “courage” to it, and sell as a motivational poster.
So, while I passed the time, sitting on the sand at Newport Beach, waiting for a company harbor cruise of Balboa (best perk my workplace ever offered!), I was entertained by a brave seagull. In future, will I stand with equal courage, my back to the ocean? Ummm, no. Based on my personal experience, I’ve learned that’s generally not the smartest thing to do.
