Knowing the fondness humans have for birds, particularly towards the end of November, I can hear this Town Squawker loudly calling out a warning to his feathered friends… “Run, HIDE, it’s that time of year again!!!” Poor guy doesn’t understand it’s not Roast Peacock being served with mashed potatoes and gravy.
Today’s Foto Fix was taken at the Los Angeles County Arboretum in Arcadia, a fabulous place for birds and others! ~SueBee (photo by SueBee)
I love peacocks..they sound human when they cry out. In Miami, Fl where I’m from many of them where displaced after Hurricane Andrew have found neighborhoods where they thrive but you ave to know where to look, I do. They along with the displaced parrots, iguanas, monkeys can be seen in various areas where people want them and put out food for them.
You’re right, they do sound human! Interesting about what the Hurricane did to them… sounds like they’ve adjusted as best they can.
Been here before. They have a lot, lot, lot of peacocks. I like the Queen Anne’s cottage. When I was there, they were renovating the places. I wonder if it’s accessible now.
They do have large number of peacocks – that’s for sure! I was lucky to have a tour through Queen Anne’s a few months back, so I can say, yes, it’s complete. I think they’re now on to fixing up the Indian village.Time for another visit! ~SueBee
