After looking at old pictures I’d taken at Oak Glen, I suddenly got the urge for an in-person view. I tossed myself in my little pickup truck and headed onto the freeway. An hour or so later I was on the mountain, with countless others who obviously had the same urge. It seems craft fairs were the draw, cars were parked hither and yon, signs offered $5 all-day parking… Oh good grief, I thought to myself. My sanctuary, my very own mountain, my respite, overrun by humanity. Ah well, I made the best of it and searched out a few spots where I hoped for a quiet walk with nature. While quiet wasn’t to be, the natural beauty overtook the loud voices and rambunctious kids running about. The afternoon was wonderful, in spite of… ~SueBee
