I drove to Descanso Gardens in La Canada Flintridge for the Cherry Blossom Festival last Sunday, after visiting Travel Town in Griffith Park (article 1, article 2). In all my years of Descanso visits (more than I can recall, having grown up in nearby La Crescenta), I’d never seen so many people waiting to get in. I circled and circled for a parking spot, ending up at the far end of a lot I’d never known existed, somewhere in the boondocks. Approaching the entrance, I was dumbfounded to see a line snaking back through the main parking lot, with at least a hundred people in it. Hoping my favorite hide-away spots would be swarming with more bees than people, I added myself to the end of the line. I must admit some satisfaction (this makes no sense) as I approached the front of the line and looked back to see it longer than when I’d entered it. Ha! Take that you end-of-liners! While I continue sorting through hundreds of photos taken during my visit, I decided to post a Foto Fix of the cherry blossoms. I can’t decide which of the three I like best, although I think I’m leaning towards #2. What about you? ~SueBee (photos by SueBee)
