This photo, taken with my iPhone 6 during my recent visit to Portland, Oregon, was one of those lucky shots. A group of us were walking to dinner, I glanced up (naturally, always on the lookout), stopped walking, took a few shots, ran to catch up with the others. The reflection on the glass facade, along […]
(14 photos in gallery) Please join me as I continue my walking tour of the beautiful Portland (Oregon) International Test Rose Garden. We had a downpour of rain in Southern California last night, and I’m hoping if it continues, we might start to see some green here again, like in Portland!~SueBee
(14 photos in gallery) During my visit last weekend to Portland, Oregon, I bought a day pass on the Max Light Rail Service, and headed to Washington Park, home to the Zoo, International Test Rose Garden, Japanese Garden, and more. Portland is known as the city of roses (information below gallery). Please enjoy a tour through […]
Today’s Foto Fix features a rather unique scene I came across in the Portland (Oregon) Rose Garden last weekend. It was an overcast, drizzly day (wonderfully refreshing for someone coming out of a drought stricken area). People were wandering the muddy paths with umbrellas overhead. I haven’t thought to bring one, and wouldn’t know where […]
These photos of downtown Portland, Oregon, were taken during my visit there this past weekend, as mentioned in my previous post. I created my own walking tour and ended up completely smitten by this very beautiful city. ~SueBee
(29 photos in gallery) I was fortunate this past weekend to join in the wedding celebration of very dear friends, in Portland, Oregon. I’d booked my flight months ago, prior to my health issues, and worried I’d not be able to attend. But, luckily, I made the trip. Not only were all of the wedding […]
(16 photos in gallery) Kat took an afternoon off work last week to join me in a spontaneous visit to Oak Glen, with its clear mountain air offering some of the best medicine for any ailment! We first had lunch at a favorite spot, (Riley’s Farm) Hawk’s Head Publick House, with its Revolutionary War era […]
Kat and I first launched our “Everything Southern California” blog on WordPress Sept 1, 2013. We’ve since published over 570 posts, and uploaded over 4200 images. We’ve been busy bees, no doubt. As our blogging partnership transitioned last year, with Kat venturing off on her own, I continued my adventures and shared those times with […]
This gorgeous bird, which may be some sort of duck (?), was resting in the Japanese garden pond at the Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens. I cropped the photo in very closely so you could see that his eyes nearly look like jewels! If anyone knows what sort of bird this is, please let me […]
Imagine walking through this gorgeous archway at the Huntington Library and Gardens in San Marino… what a refreshing journey you’ll take! ~SueBee
Today’s set of photos were taken at the Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens in San Marino and show a very attentive guard of the bamboo. But, at times of napping, please refer to the sign. ~SueBee
Today’s Foto Fix of sailboat clouds on the horizon was taken off the coast of Cambria. ~SueBee
As a second entry into this Weekly Photo Challenge, Beneath Your Feet, I chose the soft sand and incoming tide at Catalina Island, experienced during my recent birthday visit there. ~SueBee
For this Weekly Photo Challenge, Beneath Your Feet, I chose this flight of stairs (the Mattachine Steps) leading very steeply down to Silver Lake, near downtown Los Angeles. It was imperative that my eyes stay focused beneath my feet or risk a fast tumble to the bottom! ~SueBee
This is where my mind is today. I think it’s a great place to have one’s mind!! 🙂 ~SueBee
My immediate choice for this Weekly Photo Challenge: Inspiration is…. rocks! I’m inspired by rocks. Some might think I have rocks in my head, considering my current obsession… and perhaps I do. They’re everywhere in my home at the moment: au naturale, painted, stacked. During my recent vacation to Cambria, just a few days after […]
I can’t seem to run out of shots I took in Cambria during my recent vacation. I hope you don’t mind a running theme! ~SueBee
Continuing my series on Cambria, with photos taken during my recent visit to that gorgeous Central California village, and area. ~SueBee
Providing a colorful entry to this Weekly Photo Challenge: Close Up, is a brilliant red poison oak (don’t touch!), joined by some sort of moss and lichen that covered many of the trees at Fiscalini Ranch Preserve in Cambria. I enjoyed walking the forest trail on my way to the ocean side bluffs during my recent […]
