There was so much to see at the Orange County Fair that my iPhone was clicking away relentlessly. From enormous dahlias in the garden section to pressed flowers, tablescapes, woodworking, paintings…. ridiculous foods, oh my! More pictures coming tomorrow. ~SueBee

I decided on a drive to Oak Glen this morning, wanting to have breakfast up on the mountain. It was a perfect idea; no traffic on the freeway, and clear blue sky. After breakfast, I drove to Oak Glen Preserve for a walk on the nature trails. Listening to nature was nearly a lost cause, […]

Continuing from yesterday’s post with more photos from the visit Kat and I had to downtown Los Angeles. ~SueBee

Kat and I took the train from the Orange depot to Union Station in downtown Los Angeles two days ago. We wanted to visit the Natural History Museum before her membership and guest passes expired. Getting to the Museum was quite an adventure, though. The train to L.A. was a simple straight shot, no problem. […]

A real need to get outdoors hit, prompting a visit to the El Dorado Nature Center in Long Beach. Working in an interior office all week can do that to a person. The break was so refreshing as evidenced by these pics, taken with my iPhone. ~SueBee

In early October, I had a day off work and decided to drive the hour or so up to Oak Glen. I’d hoped too see some changing leaves for Autumn, and also smaller crowds. Oak Glen has been promoted extensively in the past year or two, making it packed with people and losing some of […]

It’s already been a few weeks since I took an early train from the city of Orange, where I live, to downtown Los Angeles. We’d had a rare rain the day prior as you’ll notice in the one photo of a storm canal. Other photos are views out the train window along the way; more […]

Tomorrow, September 1, 2018, will be the five year anniversary of SueBee and Kat’s first blog post being published! Reflecting on the places we’ve gone (both Kat and I at the beginning, and in recent years, me, solo), and things we’ve seen over those years makes me glad we started this journey. While I haven’t […]

Yesterday, Kat, her husband, her girlfriend and I visited Kat’s univeristy alma mater, California Polytechnic University, aka Cal Poly Pomona. The Farm Store had an event going featuring fruit and vegetables grown on campus. The university is super cool, because being a polytechnic school, it features hands-on learning. The campus is on the site of […]

This past Saturday, I took a spontaneous drive to a little mountain town called Wrightwood. It’s on the back side of the Angeles Crest mountain range, near to highways 138 and 15. It’d been decades since I’d last been there. Traffic on the freeways en route was heavier than I’d hoped for, but being Southern […]

I just returned from a short trip to New Orleans, aka The Big Easy, aka NOLA, my first time there. My son, Andreas, had a work conference, his new husband, Loren, couldn’t get off work, so I invited myself along. In spite of having just one solid day, plus a few extra hours the evening […]

(12 photos) I visited Descanso Gardens today, a beautiful spot near my home town of La Crescenta, about a dozen miles north of downtown Los Angeles. The weather couldn’t have been better, with visitors at a minimum. The plants looked tired and dusty but the camellias showed off their beauty regardless. I think they’re truly […]

Following three days of family, friends, and much feasting, I took an afternoon drive along Southern California’s beautiful coastline yesterday. I’ve been caring for my grandpup, Kansas, so I took him along. It’s not easy taking pictures with a rambunctious pup but I managed one of him in Newport’s Back Bay. We continued down the […]

(19 photos) As we head into the Thanksgiving weekend, and then zoom on to the reds and greens of Christmas, I thought I’d pull together some pictures from the weekend I spent at GreenValley Lake with my son, his fiance, and their doggie. It’s been over a month since we were there in an adorable, […]

(14 photos) My spontaneous drive to Oak Glen, near Yucaipa, last Sunday resulted in mingling with crowds of people, but as evidenced by these pictures, I found some quiet space, too. It’s so pretty there in the fall, and the various ranches have all sorts of festivals celebrating apple picking season. ~SueBee

(19 photos) I spent two nights recently at the adorable little Danish village of Solvang. It’s north of Los Angeles by about 140 miles, and about 170 from my hometown of Orange. Visiting post-tourist season was a good choice. My motel room was gorgeous and at a rate of $92/night including breakfast and passes for […]

(10 photos) I just returned from a four day get-away, what I’m calling a mini road trip. It was so refreshing …I don’t refer to my trips as relaxing because I’m not able to sit still, but a change of scenery, new places to explore, lots of photo ops, that’s my kind of trip! Saturday, […]

(19 photos) I walked along the trail at Point Vicente Lighthouse on Palos Verdes Peninsula this past Sunday. The breathtaking view was enough to keep my eyes focused on the ocean, but turning, I noticed something up ahead on the trail. Getting closer, I realized a man had a large bird on his arm. Closer […]

(11 photos) I drove up the San Bernardino mountains to Lake Gregory yesterday morning to fulfill one of my summertime goals of kayaking there. The drive took just a bit more than an hour, which is basically nothing in Southern California drive life. The weather on the mountain was gorgeous, the lake smooth, deep blue, […]

Two beautiful blooms smiling for my camera at San Juan Capistrano during my recent visit. ~SueBee
