Here’s wishing a Happy Valentine’s Day to those with sweeties, and a wonderful regular day to the rest of us! This photo of a discarded heart in the sand was taken at Newport Beach near the pier. ~SueBee

Rat Pack Tribute at Lido
Last Friday after work, and after dinner at the Crab Cooker, I attended a concert at the Lido Theatre in Newport Beach. When it opened in 1938, the Lido was a movie theater. These days, it’s used for live concerts and occasional special showing movies. I arrived early and felt lucky to get a front row seat! On stage was a […]
Eat Here! The Crab Cooker
Our blog hasn’t featured a restaurant recommendation in ages, so it’s high time we do one again. This past Friday after work, and before the concert I would be attending, I treated myself to dinner at the Crab Cooker seafood restaurant in Newport Beach. My dad used to take our family there when I was a teenager, and I hadn’t been in […]
Sights at Newport Beach
My recent after-work visit to Newport Beach yielded quite a variety of photos. This gallery contains some of the sights as I walked along the way back to the ferry boat. ~SueBee
Lone Pelican Floating
Today’s Foto Fix was taken from the Newport Beach Pier a few evenings ago as the setting sun cast it’s final golden rays of the day. ~SueBee
West Fork Trail and Palm Canyon
My inventory of photos from my two night get-away in Palm Springs at the end of December is nearly endless! The photos in this gallery were taken after I hiked Andreas Canyon and then headed toward the Reservation Trading Post, where I had hoped to explore West Fork Trail and Palm Canyon. I ended up venturing onto just the very […]
Family Fishing
Photo taken at the end of Newport Beach Pier this past Friday after work. I loved the expression of the little girl, looking up at her father as he fixed his fishing line.~SueBee
Newport Beach Pier as Subject
On the sand at sunset, photographing a rugged old pier jutting into a silky, pearlescent ocean… there were several of us with the same idea! These photos were taken at Newport Beach this past Friday after I was off work. ~SueBee
Today’s Sunset at Newport Beach
As I left the office today, worn out from a long workweek, I decided on a drive to Balboa Island, the opposite direction of my home in Orange. I crossed the bridge to the island, parked my little truck, walked to the ferry, hopped on, paid the $1.00 fee, rode over to Newport Beach Peninsula, and meandered down to the beach. The air […]
Near Olvera Street
I was downtown Los Angeles this past weekend for the swearing-in ceremony of California’s new Controller, Betty Yee, and snapped these photos in the area of Olvera Street, the oldest street in Los Angeles. ~SueBee
Lotus Line
Sleepy, rolled up, in denial, not ready to face the day, morning came far too soon, turn off that alarm, I’m going back to bed. (wishful thinking) ~SueBee
Visiting the World’s First Cactarium
An after-lunchtime visit to Moorten Botanical Garden was a nice break between hikes during my recent Palm Springs visit. Established in 1938, it’s a desert lover’s cactus feast. I found their World’s First Cactarium, pictured in this gallery, to be most fascinating, and I’m pleased to know I visited a world’s first! ~SueBee
Room to Express Myself
This week’s photo challenge theme of Express Yourself prompted me to write this post, and upload these photos. As I mentioned in an update to our “About Us” page, Kat moved into her own apartment with her boyfriend, Cam, just a little while back. She’d been gone during her four years of college, and most […]
Weekly Photo Challenge: Express Yourself
People express themselves by wearing pins, waving flags, displaying car bumper stickers and banners, chanting slogans. I gathered my things together for this photo challenge, and was surprised at how much stuff I have! More photos of this week’s challenge are here. ~SueBee
Wait! Don’t forget your phone!
See? Even cowboys were rushing off and nearly forgetting their mobile phones. 😉 Photo taken at the Gene Autry Museum in Griffith Park. ~SueBee

Reclaimed by the Desert
Fascinating, dilapidated old buildings on the Agua Caliente Indian Reservation, at the east end of Palm Springs. How they get the imagination going… ~SueBee
Near Carthay Square, 1
If you want to check out city sights, avoid the usual throng of cars, I suggest you get out early on a Sunday morning. I spent the weekend visiting my son on the west side of Los Angeles; he lives in the Carthay Square area, near Fairfax and Olympic. I wanted to get a photo of […]
